The renovation and extension of this house, located on rustic land, begins with the enhancement of the existing building and its material character. The project builds upon the original masonry structure, preserving the presence of its stone walls and ashlar blocks while introducing a new volume that establishes a clearer relationship between the house and the landscape.
The extension is attached to the existing building and acts as an articulating element, reorganising the interior spaces and orienting the main rooms towards the best views and solar exposure. The intervention seeks to establish a dialogue between the existing and the new, preserving the character of traditional architecture while introducing brighter spaces that open towards the surrounding landscape.
From a construction perspective, the proposal restores and reveals the materiality of the original walls, combining irregular stone with the ashlar blocks that define corners and junctions. The new elements are resolved with a restrained and understated expression, allowing texture, the passage of time and the relationship with the Mediterranean vegetation to shape the project's final identity.
