Ibiza · Santa Eulalia, Ibiza Detached single-family house on rustic land with swimming pool.
In a Mediterranean setting characterised by irregular topography and abundant vegetation, the proposal seeks to establish a direct relationship with the landscape, adapting to the natural conditions of the site and reducing the visual presence of the building through a fragmented implantation.
The different volumes adapt to the terrain levels and are articulated through platforms, stone walls and outdoor pathways, allowing the architecture to integrate into the garden and extend its different levels towards the landscape. The strategy also draws on the characteristic features of traditional Ibizan architecture, reinterpreting its white volumes, curved forms and sense of mass through a contemporary expression.
In terms of programme, the house is organised around a central living space that brings together the main daytime areas and establishes a direct connection with the terraces and swimming pool. The private spaces are arranged around it in distinct volumes, allowing for different degrees of privacy while maintaining a continuous relationship with the surrounding landscape. Porches and pergolas extend the living spaces into the garden, while the stepped arrangement of the volumes follows the natural slope of the site.
From a construction perspective, the proposal revisits materials and techniques associated with traditional Ibizan architecture, reinterpreted through a contemporary approach. White volumes, defined by curved geometries and rounded corners, rest on stone plinths and retaining walls that integrate and contain the terrain. Timber joinery and elements introduce warmth and depth, while pergolas and external shading devices modulate solar exposure.
